Think cotton candy. Now think of said cotton candy changing colors from blue, to green, to pink, to purple, and then to purple/pink swirl! That is the story of my hair for the past few years and with this much processing, there comes the high risk (and ultimate result) of hair damage. Aside from almost eliminating any heat processing of my hair (blow drying, straightening, curling, etc), there are several key products that have kept my hair in long, full, and healthy shape.
I started getting this treatment at my hair stylist's salon a few years ago, and I haven't stopped since! My first treatment was when I had so many split ends from refusing to get a hair cut for about a year (I know tsk tsk haha). Even though my ends were DISGUSTINGLY DRY and frizzly, Olaplex made it feel like smooth, strong, fresh from the scalp hair. Since that treatment, I've been hooked. Recently, Sephora carries the treatment step that I get in my salon and I have told every client and cast member about it since it arrived in my store! For the record, this is NOT A LEAVE IN CONDITIONER. This is a binding treatment that rejoins broken disulphide bonds in your hair that have resulted from all kinds of damage.
2. Macadamia Thermal Protectant Spray
I was introduced to this product via a sponsored post project for the blog. It contains macadamia oil, avocado oil, argan oil, hydrolyzed rice protein & vegetable protein, as well as thermal protectant silicone. All this wrapped up into one makes for a great heat styling experience. The few times I do actually heat treat my hair for an event or special occasion, I use this to make sure my hair is nourished and protected short term, as well as long term.
3. Sephora Collection Overnight Hair Masks
Let's start with the fact that they are only $5 each....like hello! Also, each pack comes with a bonnet to wear at night so you don't get the treatment all over your pillow case! The treatments themselves come in several "flavors." The ACAI sleeping hair mask is great for boosting your color and giving it some extra *oomph*. You can use this as a general upkeep type treatment, or right before a special event like I do if you don't have time to get your hair redone. The ROSE sleeping mask is great for those who have a tough time with frizz. It helps to smooth out your strands leaving your hair silky smooth the next morning. The SHEA sleeping mask is great if you feel like your hair is getting fragile from over processing. I love using this one between hair cuts so I don't have as much breakage at my ends. Last but not least the ever popular COCONUT sleeping mask. This is a deep conditioning, nourishing mask that is great to use at least once every two weeks to give your hair the spa treatment. I have seen a huge difference in my hair after using this mask; even after just one use!
