Hello my friends!
As many of you know, Nick proposed to me on my birthday last year, and it was the happiest time of my life! We are high school sweethearts and have been together for a whole 9 years at that point! (I know, *what took him so long?!* is basically everyone's response to this LOL)
But let me tell ya'll.....it was so worth it! Not only was the proposal very intimate and so *us*, the ring is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! #pinterestwin Now, not a lot of people in my social circle did this, but Nick and I decided to take several months to just chill and *be engaged*. We've been together for so long, so for us getting married isn't something that needs to be rushed. Of course at first I was caught up and saying "NEXT YEAR!" "LET'S GET MARRIED FOR OUR TENTH ANNIVERSARY" "MAKING ALL THE PINTEREST BOARDS NOW!" But eventually, I realized there is no reason for us to rush it, and that it is nice to take in the moments of us being engaged and what that means for our relationship.
We used our initial chilled out engagement time to have a small engagement *party* get together and do engagement photos (See how we DIY'd our engagement photos at a local apple farm here!). We also used this time to realize what getting married really means, and started planning our future *on paper*.
Now that several months have passed, we are ready to start planning!
This is why I started this portion of the blog because I wanted to bring you guys on this journey too. I consider myself an *off-beat-bride* and we are planning a more personalized affair, so get ready to learn DIY's, discover fun music playlists, and find out what makes us tick as a couple ;-)
