What to choose?
I've read the books (actually one book LOL) and talked to married friends and this seems to be the first thing you need to figure out. What kind of feeeeeeeling do you want to emerge from your wedding day? How to you want to portray yourself as a coupleeeeee?...blah blah blah
They make it sound so GD complicated and I'm like.....NOPE. GOT IT. DONE.
You're probably either LOL'ing right now or utterly confused. First thing I thought of in terms of our wedding when we got engaged (and years before that haha) was that it would be in October. That is our favorite month, holiday, and season; and thus the most "us."
Nick and I are obsessed with everything Halloween in terms of movies (Nightmare Before Christmas-ummm CLASSIC), color schemes, creativity, decor options (SKULLS GALORE), and mystique. My first instinct was to actually have a costume type reception (think Masquerade Ball); but the elders are quite hesitant on that! haha Maybe I'll keep that for the rehearsal dinner....
We are also quite partial to our local apple farms and fall season cuisine. Even our engagement gathering had a fall menu with a Fireball whiskey/hot apple cider cocktail and fresh apple pie. (The best food item at the engagement gathering was the bacon/maple pizza Mama K made! That recipe will be on the blog soon so subscribe for email notifications!!!)
All in all I think we will be able to incorporate our love for the halloween/fall season and our high-brow taste to create the perfect spooky yet elegant party. This isn't going to be a kid's class halloween party, I can tell ya that!
